The Verdant Commons Project - Donation Refund Policy
Effective Date: February 4, 2026
The Verdant Commons Project, Inc. (The Verdant Commons Project) (referred to as "We," "Us," or "Our") is a Florida-registered nonprofit
with offices in Washington, D.C., and we are committed to protecting our donors and supporters. Your donations are vital to supporting our mission.
1. General Policy
The Verdant Commons Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Because our budget and community initiatives rely on
the receipt of irrevocable gifts, all donations are considered final and
non-refundable.
2. Minimum Refund Threshold
To ensure that our resources remain focused on our mission rather than administrative overhead, The Verdant Commons Project does not process refund requests for amounts
less than $50.00 USD, except in documented cases of unauthorized credit card use (fraud).
3. Recurring Monthly Donations
TWe offer donors the option to provide ongoing support through monthly recurring gifts.
- Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your recurring donation at any time. To ensure that a scheduled payment is not processed, you must submit your
cancellation request at least five (5) business days prior to the next scheduled billing date.
- Refunds on Recurring Gifts: If a cancellation request is received fewer than five days before the billing date and a charge occurs, that charge is
subject to the general non-refundability policy stated in Section 1.
4. Limited Exceptions
Refund requests exceeding the $50 threshold may be considered under the following specific circumstances:
- Technical/Data Errors: Proven duplicate transactions or identifiable clerical errors.
- Event Cancellations: If you purchased a ticket for an official Project event that is subsequently cancelled and not rescheduled.
- Unauthorized Activity: Documented fraudulent use of a donor’s payment method.
5. Request Process
To initiate a request, the donor must:
- Submit in Writing: Contact info@verdantcommons.org within 30 days of the original transaction.
- Provide Documentation: Include the donor’s name, transaction ID, date, amount, and a detailed explanation for the refund.
- Method of Return: All approved refunds will be credited back to the original payment method only.
6. Tax Considerations
If any
written acknowledgment was issued for a donation that is later refunded, that acknowledgment is rendered void. Donors are responsible for
ensuring they do not claim a tax deduction for any refunded amounts.
